Thermal 3Ht Insulation in the Basement
Thermal 3Ht Insulation is an excellent insulator and is ideal for insulating both new and existing basement floors and walls. Since concrete is extremely dense it is able to retain a large amount of heat. This ability is referred to as "the thermal mass effect". In non-insulated basements, because the soil is colder than concrete, heat from the basement is attracted to the cold soil. This ultimately leads to a cool, damp and uncomfortable environment.
Thermal 3Ht Insulation can be installed on either side of concrete basement walls but in new construction it is generally installed on the exterior of the walls. This allows the Thermal mass of the concrete walls to reach the indoor temperature and block the ground temperature from affecting the internal temperature of the building. Thermal 3Ht Insulation is extremely flexible and durable; consequently it is capable of withstanding the adverse effects of below grade back filling.
