UNDERSTANDING AIR TIGHTNESS

If a building leaks air, it is energy inefficient. Buildings must be airtight in order to be energy efficient. Thermal 3Ht Insulation are taped at every seam making it airtight. Indoor air quality and the energy efficiency of the building can be controlled much better when it is airtight. A Blower Door is a piece of equipment that every energy rater uses to test a building for air tightness. Many green building standards like Energy Star, the USGBC’s LEED program and Passiv Haus require the building to reach minimums on air leakage. Thermal 3Ht Insulation is an excellent insulation material to install on buildings that will be tested with a blower doors because after it is installed by taping the seams, it forms an airtight barrier.
